In this procedure a "melon slice" of the skin and soft tissue that lies below the Umbilicus(belly button) and the borders the upper part of the pubic mound is removed

The remaining soft tissues are then mobilised and moved downwards to attach to the pubis

The umbilicus is not re-positioned

Care is taken to suture all the layers to avoid an overhang and get a flat lower abdomen.

There is a long scar from hip to hip, usually concealed by briefs,

There is no scar around the umbilicus
